Impressionist Photography  > Street Scenes > Seattle from the Street
These photos are a project that I'm working on (documented in quite a bit of detail on my photo-blog Seattle Rain or Shine). So many of our amazing vistas in Seattle are actually best seen from the freeway. The best view in the whole city is from the Ship Canal Bridge...otherwise known as Interstate 5. On one side you can see the Cascade mountain range, the University District, the Montlake Bridge and half of Lake Union. On the other side you can see the other half of Lake Union, all of down town (including the famous Space Needle), Queen Anne Hill and (from the right angle) the Olympic Mountain range. All of this....while you're going 60 mph in approximately 59 lanes of traffic :P Kinda hard to get good photos!

But I've always wanted to do a series of dirty through-the-car-window kinds of photos of these views, and today with the X100 I was able to. I stuck the lens on f/8, set it to manual at infinity focus and when I was at a spot I knew from experience had something good, I held it up near a window without looking and snapped. I really like these and I'll be doing more and playing with PP to figure out what they want :)
